FAQ: Trace Minerals in Poway, CA

Trace Minerals: What They Are, Why They Matter, and How to Choose Them

Minerals are essential to human nutrition, but the body does not need every mineral in the same amount. Some are required in relatively large quantities, while others are needed only in very small amounts. These are commonly known as trace minerals.

At Eidon Ionic Minerals, we've focused on mineral nutrition since 1996. Our goal is to make minerals easier to understand and simple to incorporate into everyday life through clean, water-based liquid formulas. Below are answers to some of the most common questions about trace minerals.

1. What Are Trace Minerals?

Trace minerals are minerals the body needs in relatively small amounts to support normal physiological functions.

Essential trace minerals include zinc, copper, selenium, manganese, iodine, chromium, molybdenum, and iron. Although the body requires much smaller quantities of these minerals than major minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, and sodium, the amount required does not reflect their importance.

A mineral can be needed in only a tiny amount and still have an important nutritional role.

2. Why Are Trace Minerals Important?

Trace minerals participate in many normal processes throughout the body.

Depending on the individual mineral, these roles can include supporting normal enzyme activity, antioxidant defenses, thyroid function, immune function, energy metabolism, connective tissue formation, and other physiological processes.

Each mineral has its own functions, which is why it is more useful to understand individual minerals than to think of all trace minerals as interchangeable.

3. What Is the Difference Between Trace Minerals and Major Minerals?

The distinction is primarily based on how much the body requires, not how important the mineral is.

Major minerals—including calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, phosphorus, and chloride—are required in larger quantities.
Trace minerals—including zinc, copper, selenium, manganese, iodine, chromium, molybdenum, and iron—are required in much smaller amounts.

Both groups are important components of nutrition.

4. What Are Ionic Trace Minerals?

The word ionic refers to electrically charged mineral species that can exist in solution.

Eidon liquid minerals are produced using highly purified mineral compounds and de-ionized water to provide minerals in a simple, water-based liquid form.

Rather than relying on tablets, capsules, sugars, flavors, or complex delivery systems, our focus has always been straightforward liquid mineral supplementation.

5. Why Choose Liquid Minerals Instead of Pills or Capsules?

For many people, the biggest advantage of liquid minerals is simplicity.

Eidon liquid minerals can be diluted in water or another beverage and are particularly useful for people who don't enjoy swallowing tablets or capsules.

Liquid formulas also make it possible to choose either individual minerals or carefully formulated mineral combinations depending on your needs.

6. Which Individual Trace Minerals Does Eidon Offer?

Eidon offers individual liquid formulas for a number of trace minerals, including:

  • Zinc

  • Selenium

  • Copper

  • Chromium

  • Manganese

  • Molybdenum

  • Iodine

  • Iron

Eidon also offers Boron and Silica as individual mineral formulas. While boron and silicon are often discussed alongside trace minerals in nutritional contexts, they are not currently classified as essential trace minerals for humans.

This distinction is important to us because we believe good mineral education should be accurate as well as easy to understand.

7. Does Eidon Offer Mineral Blends?

Yes. Eidon offers several formulas containing combinations of minerals, including Multiple Mineral, Electrolytes, Bone Support, Joint Support, Immune Support, and Adrenal Support.

Each blend has its own formulation, so we recommend reviewing the Supplement Facts panel rather than assuming that all mineral blends provide the same minerals or amounts.

8. Should I Choose an Individual Mineral or a Mineral Blend?

That depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

An individual mineral allows you to supplement a particular mineral without automatically adding several others. A blend can be more convenient when you want a combination of minerals in one formula.

More is not necessarily better when it comes to minerals. Your diet, other supplements, medications, and individual needs should all be considered when deciding what belongs in your routine.

9. Can I Take More Than One Mineral Together?

Many minerals are naturally consumed together in foods, and multiple minerals can be part of the same supplement routine.
However, minerals can also interact with one another, particularly at higher supplemental amounts.

For that reason, it is important to consider your total mineral intake rather than simply adding supplements one at a time without considering the overall picture.

If you have a medical condition, take prescription medication, or have questions about your individual mineral needs, discuss your supplement routine with a qualified healthcare professional.

10. How Do I Take Eidon Liquid Minerals?

Always follow the directions on the individual Eidon product.

Our regular-strength liquid minerals are generally provided in larger bottles and measured in larger servings, while our concentrated formulas are supplied in smaller dropper bottles and use much smaller amounts.

Both can be diluted in water or another beverage according to the product directions.

11. Are Concentrated Minerals Stronger Than Regular-Strength Minerals?

“Concentrated” describes the amount of mineral in a given volume of liquid—it does not necessarily mean that the customer is intended to receive more mineral per daily serving.

Eidon's concentrated formulas provide a convenient way to deliver mineral supplementation using a much smaller volume of liquid. This makes the dropper bottles particularly useful for travel, work, or anyone who prefers a smaller bottle.

Always compare the Supplement Facts and serving directions for the specific products you are considering.

12. Do Eidon Liquid Minerals Contain Sugar, Flavors, or Sweeteners?

No. Eidon liquid mineral formulas are intentionally simple and contain no added sugar, sweeteners, artificial flavors, or colors.

Our philosophy has always been to provide minerals without adding unnecessary ingredients simply to change their taste or appearance.
Different minerals naturally have different tastes. Some are quite noticeable, while others—such as Silica—can have an extremely mild taste.

Taste is not a reliable measure of mineral content or potency.

13. Do Eidon Liquid Minerals Need to Be Refrigerated?

No. Eidon liquid minerals do not require refrigeration.

Store them according to the directions on the product. Silica and formulas containing silica should not be frozen.

14. Can Trace Minerals Interact With Medications?

Yes, some minerals can interact with certain medications or affect how medications or other nutrients are absorbed.

If you take prescription medication, have a medical condition, are pregnant or nursing, or have questions about combining supplements, speak with your healthcare professional before beginning a new supplement program.

15. How Do I Know Which Trace Minerals I Need?

There is no single mineral program that is appropriate for everyone.

Diet, age, lifestyle, medications, health conditions, and existing supplementation can all influence mineral intake and needs. Rather than assuming that everyone needs every mineral, we encourage people to learn what individual minerals do and make thoughtful decisions about supplementation.

That's also why Eidon offers both individual minerals and mineral blends.
