THE POISONING OF AMERICA
The American Dental Association has done it again. Between the chemical conglomerates and sugar producers and the ADA, our health faces growing challenges as they sanctioned poisoning our food and now our water. The latest egregious attack on the health of the American public came by way of endorsement and promotion of mandated fluoridation in our city water.
The ADA’s first travesty was the adoption of the use of mercury in silver amalgam fillings. As I have discussed in previous newsletters, the mercury in our teeth (an eventually in our body tissues) is the underlying cause of hypothyroidism, breast cancer, and prostate cancer, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and bone loss. Not surprisingly, the two cancers mentioned are leading causes of death in the United States. The unacknowledged causal link is the Mercury/Iodine connection.
When mercury-amalgam fillings are present in a person’s mouth, mercury continuously leaches into the saliva and the bloodstream. When the human body is exposed to a heavy metal such as mercury, a mobilization of iodine and selenium is instigated to bind and remove (chelate) mercury because it poses an imminent threat to health and homeostasis. When there is a constant supply of mercury (amalgams in the mouth) and an inconsistent supply of iodine, selenium and other essential minerals, the body’s mineral stores become depleted. Iodine is located primarily in the tissues of the thyroid, breast, and prostate. When the tissues in these sites become iodine deficient they function abnormally and can lead to thyroid malfunction, fibrocystic breast disease, breast cancer (1) and prostate cancer.
The second egregious assault to our health is the fluoridation of our water under the auspices of good dental health. What has yet to be widely publicized is the result of a study on the effect of fluoride on tooth health. Findings saw only positive results on children between the ages of 8 and 12. All other age groups saw no improvement or poor results from the use of fluoride. The ADA recently publicized a caveat to new parents to cease the use of city water in making formula due to the deleterious side effects of fluoride on infants. The 2006 National Research Council (NRC) reported on fluoride in water that identified many adverse health effects associated with exposure to fluoride. Based on the concentration levels reported to be harmful, there is clearly no adequate margin of safety to protect against these adverse effects for the 170 million Americans drinking fluoridated water. Especially at risk are infants and small children, the elderly or frail, and those with above average water consumption, inadequate nutrition, diabetes, and poor thyroid or kidney function.
Why is it that we ignore the primary cause of tooth decay which is white sugar? The average person consumes well over 100 pounds of refined sugar annually. All you have to do is walk down the isle of any supermarket and pick up a product to see that nine times out of ten it will contain added sugar. Refined sugar is the major cause of tooth decay and not a lack of fluoride in our water. There are dentists who teach their patients about refined sugar and the detrimental impact it has on teeth. Most of these enlightened dentists also practice mercury free dentistry and have a focused approach of doing no harm to their patients. Unfortunately, these dentists are in the minority today and they are the faction of Dentistry opposed to adding fluoride to municipal water supplies.
Thankfully, nature provides natural antidotes to poison. It is up to us to seek them out as a way to protect our wellbeing. This is not novel and has been done by trial and error since the beginning of man’s awareness that survival depended on intelligent decisions. We have become more sophisticated in science and chemistry and no longer have to die eating the wrong plant as a means of sorting out the medicinal value. The information for choosing the correct mineral antidote for both mercury and fluoride is available and has been researched by Eidon.
The most advantageous solution to keeping iodine levels healthy enough to combat the onslaught of mineral disruptors such as mercury or fluoride is to make a practice of daily Iodine supplementation. In this way our iodine stores will remain constant allowing our organs to function properly.
We know for sure that fluoride is antagonistic to iodine. Many foods and drinks we consume contain high levels of fluoride. The USDA National Fluoride data base has a list of high priority foods and beverages that comprise 80% of dietary fluoride. High on the list are Coke and Pepsi, instant teas and commercial bread. Now that we are getting our water fluoridated the body is additionally burdened. Despite the fact that Americans are already being over-exposed to fluoride, the Environmental Protection Agency has given DOW Agro-Science approval to add a new fluoride pesticide (sulfuryl fluoride) to hundreds of foods in the U.S. Imagine that! multiple purposes for fluoride. Now one can drink it, eat it, brush teeth and kill pests with it. Add to this equation the fact that some dentists are still putting mercury amalgams in the teeth of their patients, even young children and the elderly, and it becomes apparent that we need an antidote that will keep our body healthy in the face of these assaults.
